IT Software Developer III
Job DescriptionThermo Fisher Scientific's Information Technology department is seeking an IT Software Developer at our Frederick, MD site supporting an internal MES (Manufacturing Execution System) software platform.
The individual will plan, design, and/or implement efficient IT and business system solutions for new product introductions and optimization of manufacturing operations.
This role works closely with Manufacturing Operations across various sites and with other IT application teams as needed.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintaining and enhancing MES systems in a manufacturing environment utilizing.
Net and other development platformsSupport the development of tools to improve the efficiency of the MES development teamProvide analysis and support for production MES systemsLeading the adoption and standardization of software architecture, development tools and driving a continuous improvement cultureAct as a change agent and mentor to bring new technologies, techniques and principles for software engineering excellencePartnering with Manufacturing Operations in creating business value through new product introductions, productivity, and process improvements EducationBS in Computer Science or similar degreeRequired Qualifications2
Years in experience as a full stack developerStrong knowledge of OOP using mainstream programming language, such as C# or Java.
Experience writing efficient SQL queries for MS SQL Server, MySQL or OracleExperience with front end frameworks, such as Angular and ReactPreferred QualificationsExperience with cloud architecture using AWS or AzureStrong knowledge of frontend stack (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)Thorough understanding and ability to use source control / configuration management tools (Git, SVN, etc.
)Strong understanding of development SDLC (preferably Iterative/Agile methodology)Experience with Test-Driven DevelopmentExperience with Parsec TrakSys 8, 10 is a plusEquipment integration experience using IoT, OPC and/or Kepware is a plusExposure to ITIL incident management is a plusLife Science industry background is a plusOther Skills and AbilitiesMust be self-confident, assertive, and self-motivatedStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills; attention to detail is crucialAbility to work as a team member and contribute to the overall success of a team as well as work independently and handle multiple tasksAbility to tear down complex problems into smaller componentsAbility to develop solutions that reduce total cost of ownership over the long runStrong written and oral communication skills with internal customers and all levels of management in a non-technical manner.
