JOB INFORMATIONAll students in Frederick County Public Schools are provided with health services in the school setting.
It is through this joint effort between Frederick County Public Schools and Frederick County Health Department that the School Health Services provides the link between health and education.
This link is the key to the success of every student in Frederick County.
Health and education go hand in hand and both are essential components for the success of every student in the school setting.
We are seeking positive and professional staff with a passion for caring for children to join our diverse School Health Services team.
POSITION DETAILS:
Non-exempt; full-time during school year (10 or 11 month position); 35 hours per week; (Monday - Friday; 8 am - 4 pm); full benefitsThis position provides professional nursing service to designated Frederick County public schools.
Supervision is given to the assigned Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and/or Health Room Technician-CNA/CMTs; supervision is received from a Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise and evaluate Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Health Room Technician-CNA/CMTs (HRTs) in several assigned school buildings Delegate nursing functions to HRTs as mandated through the MD State Board of Nursing Assess, plan, implement and evaluate a health service program for the assigned schools Serve as liaison/collaborator between the schools, students, parents/guardians and health care providers Develop, write and implement health care plans for specific individual students Interpret students' health/developmental status to parents/guardians and school personnel Help families to find and use available health resources and be available to attend medical appointments with families and to visit families in their homes Compile and maintain a file of current health education materials for students and faculty and serve as consultant and resource person for the health education program Participate in establishing policies and procedures for emergency care of student injuries/illnesses Implement and interpret defined protocols and procedures, as well as programs for the prevention and control of communicable diseases Investigate communicable diseases in the school setting Promote effective sharing of information resources among the community, health care professionals and the school(s) Analyze school health records and reports in order to develop and/or modify health programs to meet healthcare needs of school communities Attend and participate in faculty, staff and community meetings as pertains to school health In the absence of the HRT or LPN, provide on-site health room coverage Provide comprehensive and appropriate health education for schools and communities as needed Perform other related duties as requiredTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Graduation from an accredited Nursing program Minimum 2 years of RN work experience (within the last 5 years) in public health nursing and/or school health nursing Current Registered Nurse license through the Maryland State Board of Nursing Examiners (or current RN license from another state, with ability to obtain Maryland RN license following hire) - current license must be maintained during employment Current certification in CPR and First Aid by a recognized certification body (eg American Red Cross, Heart Association, National Safety Council, etc.
) or ability to be so certified during the orientation process - certifications must be maintained during employment OR - Related Bachelor's degree Minimum 2 years of recent RN work experience (within the last 5 years) that includes medical/surgical and/or pediatric nursing Current Registered Nurse license through the Maryland State Board of Nursing Examiners (or current RN license from another state, with ability to obtain Maryland RN license following hire) - current license must be maintained during employment Current certification in CPR and First Aid by a recognized certification body (eg American Red Cross, Heart Association, National Safety Council, etc.
) or ability to be so certified during the orientation process - certifications must be maintained during employmentKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to successfully complete mandatory RN Case Manager/Delegating nurse training course through Maryland State Board of Nursing Knowledge of program assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation Knowledge of Maryland State laws, rules and regulations governing School Health Nursing Knowledge of the State Nurse Practice Act in order to recognize the legal aspects of nursing Ability to effectively plan, direct and supervise the work of others Ability to accurately review and interpret statistical reports and information Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including public speaking skills Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other health care professionals, students and parents/guardians, and the general publicPREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:
BSN degree or a related Master's degree Current certification as a school nurse or a child/adolescent certification such as pediatric nursing, maternal child health nursing, etc Related experience in a School Health Program Completion of a RN Case Manager/Delegating nurse training course through Maryland State Board of NursingPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
While working in this position, the employee is occasionally lifting between 20-50 pounds and frequently driving While working in this position, the employee is constantly working indoorsADDITIONAL INFORMATION / EXAMINATION PROCESS This position is subject to random drug testing Ability to provide own transportation to area schools, meetings, home visits and other commitments Available to respond on-call as essential personnel in the event of an emergency situation Available for varied working schedule as needed (regular hours approximately 8 am - 4 pm)EXAMINATION PROCESS (may include):
An evaluation of training and experience One or more interviews A pre-employment background investigation A pre-employment physical examination that includes screening for hepatitis and measles, mumps, rubella (immunization inoculations may be necessary) A pre-employment drug test.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
