About the Position: The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), a subordinate research laboratory under the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, is the lead medical biological defense research laboratory for the DOD Chemical Biological Defense Program. USAMRIID is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Personnel Demonstration Project (PDP). The DB-02 payband is equivalent to the GS-05 step 1 to GS-12 step 10 level. In keeping with the Demonstration pay fixing policies, employees earning a salary that falls within this payband equivalent, will not receive an immediate pay increase (promotion) if appointed to this position. Future pay increases within the payband will be accomplished through the pay for performance management system. This is a contingent (TERM) appointment, NTE 2 years. Individuals selected for this term position may be eligible for conversion to career-conditional appointment at a later date. To be converted, the employee must (1) have been selected for the contingent position under competitive procedures, (2) must have served 2 years of substantially continuous service in the contingent appointment, (3) be selected under merit promotion procedures for the permanent position, and (4) have a current rating of B or better. This is a TERM position for 2 years and may be extended to maximum of 5 years. MRMC

Perform research on respiratory infectivity by aerosol exposure to biological agents.
Determine the concentrations of aerosolized biological agents through protein assays,
bacterial culture and viral plaque assays.
Perform basic microbiological and virological methodology for quantification.
Perform in vitro assays to include ELISA, RT-PCR, and cytokine analysis as needed.
Assist with animal manipulations such as bleeding, immunizations and minute volume
measurements.
Independently monitor animals for clinical signs of disease.
Perform tasks according to standard operating procedures and USAMRIID regulations to
work in BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories.
In order to qualify, you must meet the basic education and specialized experience requirements described below. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: microbiology; or biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included at least 20 semester hours in microbiology and other subjects related to the study of microorganisms, and 20 semester hours in the physical and mathematical sciences combining course work in organic chemistry or biochemistry, physics, and college algebra, or their equivalent.
Graduate Education: Microbiology, or specific area of study such as bacteriology, virology, mycology, algology, protozoology, parasitology, immunology, serology, microbial genetics, or soil microbiology; or specific applied fields of microbiology such as clinical and public health microbiology, food tech-nology, production processes, industrial fermentation, pollution, etc. Graduate study in related fields such as experimental pathology, infectious diseases, epidemiology, biochemistry, animal or plant physiology, genetics, plant pathology, and insect disease control, may also be pertinent, provided it has direct application to microbiological work.

Combination of education and
Experience: courses equivalent to a major in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

SPECIALIZED
Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. The DB-02 Pay Band is equivalent to a GS-05 to GS-12 levels, however, Management has elected to announce at the higher end of the pay band (GS-09 to GS-12). Specialized experience is defined as: (1) Experience researching aerosol deposition and retention of microorganisms and biological toxins within the respiratory system and the effects of respiratory infections on pulmonary physiology; (2) Experience studying the interrelation of physics and pathogenesis of disease induced by aerosol exposure to infectious agents; and (3) Experience adapting aerosol generating and sampling equipment for exposure of appropriate animal models to microbiological agents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07) .

Knowledge of the Pulmonary System
Skill in Aerobiological Research
Skill in performing Microbiological Assays
Ability to collaborate with Physiology, Immunology, and Pathology areas

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
