JOB
Summary:
The Manager of the Weinberg Center is responsible for the successful overall business management and operation of the City owned Weinberg Center for the Arts and City operated New Spire Arts Stages.
The Manager shall oversee the implementation of the Weinberg Strategic Plan as developed by the Weinberg Board of Directors and approved by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
Such work shall include but is not limited to fiscal management, balanced program development, talent and facility rental contract negotiation, along with personnel oversight/development.
The Manager serves as the chief spokesman for the Center and shall possess strong communication skills and be knowledgeable in all areas of performing arts, funding, arts diversity and equity, arts grants, and related functions.
The Manager of the Weinberg Center is also responsible for adherence to and the enforcement of City and Departmental operating procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Application of sound arts organization business practices.
Long term planning, visioning, and implementation.
Artistically develops and grows the annual programming to meet the unique and diverse arts and cultural needs of the citizens of the City of Frederick and surrounding region.
Coordinates activities with the Weinberg Board of Directors.
Public speaking in a live environment and on television or radio.
Facility management and oversight.
Staff management and leadership.
Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR
Experience:
Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Management and/or Master's Degree in Arts Administration or five (5) years of related progressive experience.
Progressive experience should demonstrate growth in theater management, budgeting, staff oversight, presenting, marketing, grant writing and program activity.
Ongoing training in industry standards.
REQUIRED SKILLS (Communication/Language; Mathematical; Computer; etc.
):
Knowledge of and/or experience in performing arts touring.
Solid written and spoken communication.
Public speaking.
Business bookkeeping/accounting including cost control, forecasting, purchasing etc.
Computer skills including data-base management, bookkeeping, work processing and online scheduling.
Negotiating skills.
Other Desirables Background in theatre production and touring.
Background in building maintenance and restoration is helpful.
Knowledge of local and state government operations.
Involvement with other regional arts organizations.
Grant writing and fund raising.
Staff management skills.

Incumbent is periodically required to work evening and/or weekend hours, depending upon performance schedule.
