Location/Division Specific Information:
Frederick, MDHow will you make an impact? The individual will work directly with the members of the Frederick Cell Culture Media Engineering team to support new product development within the Cell Biology business.
The successful candidate will possess relevant laboratory skills and an innovative mindset focused around cell culture media formulation.
Strong organizational skills will be necessary to support the culture media development needs arising from multiple projects.
Ability to multitask and maintain a results-oriented focus is essential.
What will you do? The candidate will be required to maintain accurate lab notebooks and training files in accordance with relevant Thermo Fisher required standards to support patent application and defense as well as other international standards (eg, ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.
).
Typical work requirements will include providing support related to the design, development, and formulation of cell culture media for mammalian and/or insect cell growth and protein and viral vector expression.
Assist with tech transfer during product commercialization process.
Perform literature searches related to products under development.
Work with customers to provide R support on technical issues.
Interact with scientists in other business units to troubleshoot problems and identify new opportunities.
The successful candidate will comply with all company safety regulations and procedures.
How will you get here?Education/
Experience:
EducationBachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, biology, or related field required.
ExperienceKnowledge of chemistry/organic chemistry and ability to formulate complex aqueous solutions.
Experience with mammalian or insect cell culture a plus.
Demonstrated track record of completing tasks within established timelines.
Solid technical writing skills.
Excellent time management skills and multi-tasking capabilities.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret, summarize, and present scientific results in a clear, concise, accurate manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to generate new ideas, achieve results and solve problems.
