About The Position The Associate Director, Office of Research Management supports, oversees, and champions research at Geneva by providing an effective environment for researchers and program teams.
The Associate Director is responsible for facilitating processes and procedures for acquiring and administering research funding; overseeing compliance of research with federal, non-federal, and Geneva regulations; and in partnership with the Office of Award Management, optimizes the quality of research administration education and training.
The ideal candidate should possess research administration & growth, customer service, Team-building experience and will be the Associate Director for the central/western regional portfolio's.
This is a hybrid position that will be located in either Tacoma, WA or San Antonio, TX.
The AD will work from a Corporate location at minimum 1x/week and will also be asked to be an onsite presence at research locations when necessary and to travel when necessary.
Salary Range $100,000 - $121,000.
Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate's related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
Responsibilities Management
Responsibilities:
With aid of Human Resources, responsible for staffing, hiring, salary negotiations, and performance review processes for department staff Conducts counseling and corrective action when necessary, up to and including termination, in collaboration with Human Resources and Director With delegated authority, oversees general administrative needs such as timesheet approval, new hire paperwork, and distribution of forms for department staff Manages all assigned staff to ensure optimal performance on each project or study Ensures staff demonstrate basic understanding of their job duties Plans and facilitate individual and team meetings Assures all staff members comply with Foundation and site policies, procedures, and SOPs Works with Human Resources to implement new hire procedures General
Responsibilities:
Develops and delivers training for Geneva employees Serves as a mentor for Geneva employees Represents department in assigned committees and working groups Assists program teams with problem assessment and resolution Proactively proposes, evaluates, and implements department-wide process improvements Collaborates with department leadership to set annual goals and communicates vision to department team Assists Director with evaluation of department revenue and provides guidance and assistance to portfolio teams with revenue forecasting Provide support of highly complex proposal submissions including compliance with applicable representations and certifications Develops and administers systems for managing information, projects, and communications throughout the department Coordinates communication into and out of the office and directs items as appropriate Prepares status reports, summaries, and analyses on items and other issues requiring organizational and/or Director-level action Manages the daily and long-range workload and schedule Coordinates and manages special projects Oversees and facilitates flow of information for ORM staff to ensure deadlines are met and information and reports are received from relevant units in a timely manner Participates in the review, management, and negotiation of a high-volume of research agreements Drives the development and implementation of various internal standard operating procedures Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Management or related degree required (6
years of relevant experience may be substituted for education requirement) Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Health Administration (MHA), or related Master's degree preferred Minimum of 8 years of sponsored research management experience in a supervisory or leadership role at an active non-profit, academic health center, university or government agency required Direct experience interpreting federal and non-federal sponsor guidelines and regulations required Experience with the negotiation and acceptance of contracts and grants for sponsored projects, including subawards, required Direct experience with evaluating and optimizing systems, processes, procedures, and people required Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly, and professional demeanor Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in fast-paced, high-pressure environment with strict deadlines and to manage multiple projects Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software Research or healthcare background and knowledge of DoD system preferred Job Type:
